April Edition Part II of the Sonic Pioneers!
Welcome to another edition of the EDGE Sound Research newsletter, Sonic Pioneers. As always, we are thrilled to have you a part of our journey to fundamentally change how we perceive reality starting with reimagining audio experiences.
In case you missed the previous newsletter on 4/15, here is a recap:
The Latest with EDGE Sound Research:
Alpha Users have started receiving ResonX Bundles! We now have all the 3D print shells required to make all the final units and should have all 50 units shipped out in the next two weeks. We appreciate the initial feedback from the first wave of Alpha Users as we enter the next stage of more detailed user interviews to gather feedback. Now that the Alpha Program is in full swing, we will start focusing on our next big installation at the NAMM show in Anaheim from June 3rd-5th. Our exhibition will include an area where audio engineers can master music live at an event with our ResonX Bundle and a music lounge where visitors can be fully embodied in their favorite music! Also, our Co-Founder, Ethan Castro, will be a speaker at one of the NAMM events. Lastly, enjoy the quick sizzle reel for our ResonX Sound Lounge at Target Field!

Holy Sh*t Experience of the Week:
In this week's experience, we have what is quite literally a small taste of haptic immersion of VR. Researchers at Carnegie Mellon have taken the first small steps that are sure to completely revolutionize the future of immersion technology: Read More.
News in Gaming:
Kicking things off this week in gaming we have Overwatch 2, a game that is yet to be released but is already dominating Twitch. The multiplayer beta launching only a few days ago has skyrocketed to the most viewed game currently on the streaming service, at one point touting 1 million viewers. With a little more than two weeks remaining in the beta it's easy to assume the numbers will continue to rise, and hopefully when Overwatch 2 finally releases the interest in the game will stay and it will continue the same mass success that was its predecessor.
Next up we have even more news in the world of VR gaming. Codemasters finally unveiled what the next entry in their Formula 1 game franchise has in store, the part catching our attention the most is the inclusion of VR support. With the current and upcoming advancements in VR is easy to be excited about this announcement and throw in a bit of tactile ResonX magic we can expect an incredibly immersive VR driving experience.
Finally, with a bit of bad news in the gaming world, Ubisoft recently announced the cutting of online support for 91 different titles. This includes titles like Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six Vegas, and the earlier Assassins Creed entries just to name a few. With fans already not happy with the current state of things at Ubisoft, this definitely did not do the developer giant any favors. A good many of the games being cut off are what made the gaming community love Ubisoft, without any of the tools to at least attempt to keep the online support for these classics alive it's easy to expect Ubisoft to continue its already monumental fall within the eyes of gamers. One can only hope that somewhere out there, some indie programmer is building out the support to keep these games alive, just so we can go back to a time when Ubisoft games were still great.

News in Audio Engineering/Production:
Taking us into this week's news in audio engineering and production, we have the debut of Teenage Engineering’s TX-6. The TX-6 is a handheld device that doubles as a pro mixer and an audio interface. Capable of 6 channels, IOS Bluetooth connection, and tons of other features this is definitely an awesome piece of tech for traveling musicians, film makers, and travel bloggers to take their audio to next level without having to pack any extra bulky equipment.
Lastly we Apple Music's announcement of a new monthly series of DJ mixes with a twist. In an effort to create a more engaging experience each of these mixes are made to make use of Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos. Being called “One Mix” the series will feature mixes made for different nightclubs and festivals, and produced to make you feel like you're experiencing them live.

News in Design:
In this week's news in design we have looked at the hype currently going on for Ford's newest truck, the F-150 “Lightning”. The Lightning follows a long history of being part of one of Ford's longest running series, the F-150, but adding the spin of being the first to be fully electric. As of now the reservations for the pre-lease are fully booked, numbering to around 200,000 and slated for release sometime in 2023. With full prices on the rise, it's easy to see why full electric cars are starting to gain more mass appeal and hopefully the F-150 Lighting will be a gateway to see more of its kind in the future.
